A Java Virtual Machine is used to run your own personal servlets. A full installation of Caucho's Resin-CMP servlet runner is configured for you with your own JVM. Using easy-to understand configuration files, you will be able to configure all of the necessary servlets, mappings, aliases, and other settings without the involvement of Servlets.Net support staff. You will also be able to start and stop your own Java Virtual Machine whenever you want without our assistance. More information can be found in "JVM Control" in the Tutorials section of this site.
Since you are not sharing a Java Virtual Machine with any other customer, security and package name spaces are not an issue. Because your JVM is private, you can be assured that other Servlets.Net customers cannot run your servlets on their web site. Many other servlet hosting providers use shared JVMs, which make it possible for any customer to access servlets that do not belong to them. This could cause a serious security hole in your application.
All log files are easily accessible without our assistance as well. Without a personal JVM, you will still have access to a shared JVM and a servlet library, but you will not be able to use your own servlets.
